Thermal Load Optimization - Building Orientation

The thermal load optimization facilitates to find out the ways to minimize the use of energy to get the same output. It plays an important role in saving the tremendous energy during construction phase of building thus saving   not only initial energy cost as well as future operational energy cost.
It plays an important role in conserving energy for future. The using of appropriate building material results in direct minimization of heat gains and losses thus help in saving of significant energy.
The optimized use of fresh air, double or triple insulated glazed glass, proper building orientation, use of shading devices and energy efficient lighting fixtures with required luminance level, save remarkable energy with reduced  power input. The building orientation is also one way to reduce the heat gain and Thermal Load Optimization. The new buildings should be properly oriented to get benefit from the correct site direction to minimize heat gain into the building fabric. In the following significant analysis, the thermal load calculation of one area named staff laundry was calculated. Its thermal load was 94 MBH (26.54kW). Later, I rotated this space at various degrees clockwise as shown in the graph in bellow figure and observed the thermal load output results.
I found 96.50 MBH (28.28 kW) maximum at 180 degrees and 92.40 MBH (27.04 kW) minimum at 270 degrees. This is only one exposed space if we considered whole envelope in consideration, a lot of energy can be saved.
