Use of External Shading Device


The proper use of external shading device optimizes the thermal load and reduces the heat gain in the building as shown in the simulation analysis in figure 1 & 2 with and with out external shading device. The following data was considered for simulation.
The following  peak  heat  reduction and saving achived  between 9 am to 17 pm durining May to September months.The results shows, the maximum heat gain reduction was in August.

    1996 – 1440 = 556kj     ( 526.98 Btus)

    2546 – 1809 = 737kj     ( 698.54 Btus)

September    
     869  – 686    = 183kj     ( 173.45 Btus)
Reduction in heat gain at peak
1 kj=0.947817 Btu
